A 39-year-old mechanic, Olayiwola Olarewaju, has pleaded with an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court to dissolve his 7 year old marriage to Yetunde Olarewaju over allegation of adultery and assault.<br />

Olarewaju, 39, and a resident of Omisanjana Street, Ado-Ekiti, had asked the court to dissolve his 7-year-old marriage with Yetunde, over allegation of adultery and assault.<br />
<br />
He said although no official marital rites were done to consummate the union, the marriage was blessed with three children.<br />
<br />
The petitioner told the court that he had in 2013, sued ‎her, because she aborted a pregnancy she had for another man while they lived together, adding that the intervention of family members compelled him to withdraw the matter from court.<br />
<br />
He said, ”on Dec.25, 2‎017, Yetunde left the house with our two children in the pretext of going to collect money from one of her debtors in Oke-Ila Street. she only returned home the next day.<br />
<br />
“She claimed she and our two children slept in her uncle’s house, who lives at Oke-ila Street,’’ he said.<br />
According to him, his elder sister traced the movement of the respondent to a particular man’s house.<br />
The petitioner further said apart from being adulterous, the respondent was troublesome.<br />
<br />
Olarewaju prayed the court to dissolve the union, adding that the court should grant him custody of his three children to enable him take good care of them.<br />
<br />
However, the respondent, Yetunde , 33, a tailor, and a resident ‎of Omisanjana Street, Ado-Ekiti, denied all the allegations levelled against her.<br />
<br />
She told the court that on Dec.25, 2017, her debtor actually delayed her and in the process, the battery of her phone went flat.<br />
<br />
According to her, the incident unfortunately compelled her to sleep in her uncle’s house.<br />
Yetunde said she could not get a motorcycle or taxi to bring her home around 10p.m.<br />
<br />
She, therefore prayed the court to award the custody of her three‎ children to her, if the petitioner insisted that the court should dissolve their union.<br />
<br />
The President of the Court, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, adjourned the case until March 8 for hearing.

Olujonwo had allegedly vanished into thin air after packing away from the home he shared with his estranged wife, Tope, the daughter of Billionaire businessman, High Chief Adebutu Kessington, popularly known as Baba Ijebu.<br />

His mother, Ms. Taiwo Martins, had alerted the police after claiming that her son was missing.<br />
<br />
However, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital on Thursday, Olujonwo said he was not missing and warned his mother against using him to gain media attention.<br />
<br />
The statement read in part, “At my age of over 34 years, it is ridiculous to extreme that my mother would ask the Police to look for me.<br />
<br />
“I am well, alive and kicking and the Police need not look for me. For peace in my life, I have decided to keep away from my mother for now. She should not make me part of her seeking media attention.<br />
<br />
“My siblings and others in my family who care about me without negative influence and abhorrent action know my whereabouts and we keep interacting and communicating.<br />
<br />
“My father, who has supported me and my decisions in every aspect of my life, has been in constant communication with me and he is aware that I am hale and hearty.<br />
<br />
“This is my personal and deliberate decision. I don’t want crocodile tears nor undue publicity from anybody.”

Recall that the Nigerian Army had Wednesday announced plans to conduct Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA in Benue, Taraba, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Niger states) from Thursday 15 February to Saturday 31 March 2018.<br />

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. TY Buratai, who made the announcement, said Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA has become more expedient due to upsurge in cases of armed banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling in Kaduna and Niger States as well as other sundry crimes in Kogi state and herdsmen/farmers clashes and attacks on communities particularly in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa States by armed militias.<br />
<br />
The middle belt group, while describing it as a welcome development, called on all Nigerians to put all hands on deck to support the operation.<br />
<br />
Prince Raymond Enero, the National President, who spoke on behalf of the group, called on the political class to desist from the tendency to exploit an operation like this for selfish gains<br />
<br />

The Nigerian Army has announced plans to begin "Operation Cat Race” in Benue, Taraba, Niger and Kaduna states. From the details provided to the public, the military operation is meant to deal with the herders-farmers' clashes and other criminal activities in these states. <br />
<br />
We have learnt that other military and security services will be collaborating with the Nigerian Army during the operation that would target killer-herdsmen, cattle rustlers, armed bandits, kidnappers, armed militias and other criminal elements in addition to providing training for troops.<br />
<br />
The Middle Belt Conscience Guard is a group that is committed to safeguarding the interest of the people in the states that make up Nigeria's middle belt or north-central geo-political states and the overlapping ethnic nationals of geographically congruous states to the aforementioned areas.<br />
<br />
Our group had wished for this kind of military operation owing to the menace of the identified security problems that falls within the remit of the operation. We had made series of contacts to get such intervention and we are today elated that our wishes are coming to pass.<br />
<br />
The people of the Middle Belt region would be the ultimate winner when Operation Cat Race succeeds as we expect it to. We look forward to a time when the states in the Middle Belt would no longer be used as the poster states for avoidable bloodletting. We are eager to a return to a time when the entire area covered by the North-Central geo-political zone and outlying areas are back to providing an abundance of plant and animal produce to nourish the country with surplus left for export.<br />
<br />
Such expectation can only come to fruition when farmers and herders are not at each other's jugular, when expats and investors can visit to prospect without fear of being kidnapped and when people are confident of their safety while in transit for their legitimate livelihood.<br />
<br />
We are aware that similar deployments in certain other geo-political zones were unnecessarily sensationalized, politicized and demonized by groups that have dark agenda for their people. Such attitude was even as the larger population in these areas hailed the succession of the operations by the Nigerian Army as helping to restore peace, sanity and stability in their towns and villages.<br />
<br />
The medical outreaches that accompanied these exercises have been hailed to being lifesavers for people who would have otherwise have no access to medical care. Our own position is that we want the Nigerian Army's stabilizing presence in our communities, we want to be rid of killers under whatever guise, we want our indigent people to get healing from the medical outreach.<br />
<br />
The Middle Belt Conscience Guard therefore called on our people across the region to give their maximum cooperation to the military. They should see Operation Cat Race as redemption that will allow them free themselves from criminals that had terrorized them in recent months. As law abiding people, we appeal to members of all our communities to provide information that will enable troops track down the killers that are clouding our land with sadness. <br />
<br />
We want to appeal to the political class to desist from the tendency to exploit an operation like this for selfish gains. The sanctity of the life of our people is greater than any monetary, material or positional gains anyone could hope to make.<br />
<br />
This is why we warn state governors, the leadership of farmers' groups or associations, the leadership of herders' groups or associations, traditional and religious leaders not to engage in any acts that would deprive the people of the Middle-Belt of the advantages of the military exercise. Because we see this as a timely intervention to avert further bloodshed in our region, we will not hesitate to rise against anyone that that stands in the path of our return to peace.<br />
<br />
Gentlemen of the press, permit us to use this platform to commend the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai for his demonstration of patriotism. He has continued to lead the Nigerian Army to protect the sanctity of lives of all Nigerians. It is most reassuring that Army promised to observe rules of engagement in the conduct of the exercise.<br />
<br />
Even on a higher note, we commend President Muhammadu Buhari, without whose approval as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Operation Cat Race would not have been. Both great men have our vote of confidence.

Justice Aganaba, before reading his judgement, said the prosecution called six witnesses and produced seven exhibits while the defence only had one witness who happened to be the accused.</div>

Aganaba, who went through records of cross –examination of the witnesses, noted that the onus of proof that the accused committed the murder of Henry Gagariga rested with the prosecution, in line with the three ingredients to prove a murder case namely that the deceased died, that the death of the deceased was caused by the accused and that the action of the accused which caused the death of the deceased was intentional with the knowledge that death or grievous bodily harm was its probable consequence.</div>

The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Umar Shuaibu gave this order during a press conference in his office in Abuja.<br />

He said the council was working in conjunction with FCTA’s Social Development Secretariat (SDS) and security operatives in a prior two weeks sensitization campaign against the s3x hawking within the city centre.<br />

According to him: “presently, commercial s3x workers have started parading themselves along the major streets of the city.<br />

“The Council in collaboration with Social Development Secretariat (SDS) and security agencies, has embarked on sensitization campaign to last for two weeks after which we shall start night patrols to rid the streets of the menace of commercial s3x workers,” he declared.<br />

On illegal structures and uncompleted buildings within the city centre, the coordinator explained that the council, through its Department of Development Control (DDC) would soon begin the demolition.<br />

According to him, some of the major structures listed for immediate removal owing to contravention of Development Control guidelines are Diamond Acres Estate which sits directly on Ring Road 4, which is a major arterial way and M & B Global Estate.<br />

Corroborating coordinator’s view, the Director, DCD, Mukhtar Galadima, decried the lack of cooperation and unprofessional attitude of some developers in the territory.<br />

“The case of Diamond Acres was purely that of land racketeering and recalcitrant development, while the M&D Global Estate, located in Kukwaba is built under a high tension line.<br />
<br />
“M&D Estate was severally marked but the developer did not only disregard the warnings, he, like that of Diamond Acres, allegedly erased the stop-work notices and went on with development,” he lamented.<br />

Galadima stated that his department has always marked illegal buildings right from inception but developers fail to comply, hence, why department left with no any option at this moment than to demolish the structures.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Jigawa has arrested a man with firearms heading to Benue state, Premium Times.</div>

The deputy commander of NDLEA in Jigawa, Oko Micheal, revealed this to journalists on Tuesday at Dutse, the state capital.</div>

Mr. Oko said operatives of NDLEA were on normal operation around Jahun – Gujungu Road where the suspect was arrested.</div>

“The suspect, identified as Salisu Mahmuda was arrested on Sunday 4, February, 2018 with some three locally fabricated firearms (2 locally made revolver pistol, one cut to size revolver rifle) with five-rounds of live ammunition,” he said.</div>

The suspect, Salisu Mahmouda, said he is an indigene of Kaduna state. He attended a school in Nasarawa where he later became involved collection of discarded metals between Nasarawa and Benue state.</div>

Olaniyan, in an interview with journalists, said he had served Nigeria in so many capacities and his new role as Mogaji in Ibadan would position him to contribute more to the progress of the city.<br />

He said “I thank Almighty God for making it possible. I pray to become Olubadan and that is my vision. Also, I crave for Ibadan State. I will start putting that in my prayers now. And I will work within my capacity and connections to realise the dream of having Ibadan State.”<br />

Olaniyan, who threw his weight behind Olubadan on his objection to the review of the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration by the Oyo State Government, also enjoined some Ibadan youth that has been unleashing the reign of terror in certain parts of the city to turn over a new leaf.<br />

“I am appealing to the youth to be good ambassadors of Ibadanland. We are known for peace and our forefathers had their names written on the rock as peacemakers. So, I am appealing to them to be law abiding citizens of this state and law-abiding citizens of Ibadanland,” he stated.
